We were just finishing breakfast, Drew and me (Mary) and Drew picked up an empty package, in which was a device I bought yesterday. it is called the Prenatal Cradle and helps support pregnant bellies and sore backs at the end of pregnancy. No, I do not need ityet, but I needed it very much with Drew. Only I used a different device for the same purpose. anyway, Drew asked what it was used for, so I told him it was to make my body and especially my back to feel bettter. He replied quickly that 'we ought to get Daddy one'. How touching. He is growing so much more aware of John's terrible back problems. So I explained how Daddy's back problems occur for a different reason, and he asked how I knew this. So I replied that Daddy does not have a baby in his abdomen! That is how I knew that Daddy's back problems happen for a different reason.
We are going strawberry picking with our neighbors and good pals, the Roses and then to lunch at a new backery with them and some other pals from preschool, the Paraggios. Actually we went to the circus last evening at the mall parking lot and ran into the Paraggios. Hope it won't be too hot in the sun this am picking. I remember how fun it was making jam as a kid and thought it might be fun to do again.

(mary) Hi everybody, Enjoying your Sunday night? I was just thinking about how much I have been enjoying Drew since getting back from 10 days off by ourselves in Spain. Boy, has he ever said some amusing things in the time we have been back. The other day he said to me 'You and Daddy were gone more than a year, right?" It turns out that he had his time amounts mixed up. Boy, was I ever shocked when I heard that one.
I encouraged him to feel my growing abdomen today, and showed him the lower portion where the fetus is, and told him how the fetus could even hear us talking and laughing. He said 'No, the baby is up here.' pointing to my chest. 'No silly' I replied 'The baby is down here' and he replied 'No the baby is up here' touching my head now! He is really developing his sense of humor!
The boys went out to hunt and gather a pizza and some Ben and Jerry's to bring home to eat together, and was that ever nice! I relaxed at home enjoying the peaceful sounds of a cheery evening of high school seniors partying in celebration of their newfound graduation.
While we were gone overseas, Jeanne and Terry were here spoiling Drew and even took him out one night to a lobster restaurant. Jeanne told me this story of what happened there: she and Terry were discussing what to order for Drew and noting that he liked chicken nuggets so perhaps the chicken tenders would be a fine choice. At this moment Drew piped up and said something like 'You don't order for me, I order for me!'
They spent some time at Terry's son's family's home in Stow, MA and even saw a play that Madeline was in, the youngest. Drew liked getting a newly lain egg from the chicken coop there. he so enjoyed playing at madeline and Oliver's home that he begged Jeanne to stay there overight! In fact, he was devastated when her girl scout troop showed up at the home for the meeting (mom Julia is the leader) and he was not allowed to come to the meeting. This day he learned what a club is.
They also climbed Mount Monadnock, west of here in southern NH towards Keene. They had numerous play dates (Drew went to his new pal Noah's home to play) and went to all kinds of places. I will have to get Jeanne to fill me in better, as I am having a memory blank now.
As we were leaving the airport from seeing Jeanne and Terry off on the first of June, Drew inquired why we had to pay when leaving our parking lot. I explained to him how you always have to pay $ when parking at the airport. He replied indignantly that if he were in charge of the airport that he would NOT require everyone to pay money to part there. It amazes me how young minds are often so innocent and so, so beautiful.
