The Soul of a Crab
Lately this winter, I have been playing a lot of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers in the car. If asked, Matty will tell you his favorite band is Tom Petty. I love song #5, Refugee, and he loves #6 best, "Don't Do Me Like That." We found out this past week that he has created his own words to it, the words that he thought Tom Petty was singing. When Tom Petty and his band do the chorus line, the title of the song, Matty sings is "I have the soul of a crab", "I have the soul of a crab."
That is actually what he thinks the band is saying! Now he cracks up singing it, for he knows how much we laugh at hearing this. :-)

You have it so good
Drew was getting up one morning and was still tired of course, and mentioned how I was so lucky that I didn't have to get up 6:30. I replied that getting up is all about choices - if you get up earlier, your life will be less rushed and less stressful, etc. and all. Besides which, I get up EARLIER than him! I get up at 6:10! He was in a real mood to feel sorry for himself and pointed out that "I have it so good." I informed him that I have already done fourth grade. No point in redoing it! I HAVE been there. I had to chuckle - "I have it so good." I do though, in many respects. So many. In fact, I recall one of the cowboys this past weekend at Grand Canyon Railway, saying that when conversing to a vacationer, that life is all about choices we make, and how you feel about the choices you make, not about how much $ you have.

On Hold
I was in the garage with Matt, when I caught the odor of someone's fart, and I knew it was not mine. I asked Matt if he needed to poop. Most of the time, he will answer immediately that he does not, but this time, he paused and looked reflective. I could tell that there was a good chance he did need to, so I told him to go try. Instead of just going inside to do it, he stopped and said, "I can hold it! (with the most eager-to-please tone)" Right then, he let go a clearly audible fart! I just had to sigh, and tell him that he really needed to go take care of it now, and not take the chance that we would be out at the park when he could no longer hold it (we were getting ready to go there). He saw the logic in that, and scampered inside to go find the toilet!
