But I Am So Little!
Matty's preschool teacher, Mrs. Garcia, pulled me aside the other day and told me a funny. She said that the class was working on writing the letters of their names, and Matt was really not into it. He sat around watching the others, ad she came around teaching each child one on one. His talent lies for now in reading, not writing! When she got to Matty, and she reminded him so sweetly to try to practice writing the letters of MATTHEW he replied with a groan that "But this is so hard, and I am so little." In retrospect, it was ironic he said that, for he is actually the oldest member of his class, to my knowledge. He will turn 5 October 6th, and as for size, he is a large kid!
I was going to trick you
I am suffering from quite a flu this weekend, a lung type of flu. And it isn't even flu eason yet! Yikes. Anyhow, last week we had said tentatively that we would go to the state fair this weekend, Sunday to be exact. Well, I was miserable all day today, Sunday, so I was obviously not ready to go to a fair all day in the 85 degree heat. Drew was quite disappointed, to say the least. he wouldn't really let it go. He didn't understand that I was low on energy having sat round for days with fever and just couldn't yalk with a very sore, scratchy harsh voice (throat). So he later on told me "Mom, I have to confess, I was going to trick you into going to the fair." I smiled for there was no way anyone would be able to trick me into leaving the house that day, let alone going to the fair. This was obviously ten year old logic talking. He explained that he was going to write in invisible ink on the color wonder paper the words "I will promise to take my son to the fair today" and then have me sign it and afterward show me what was revealed on the color wonder paper what it actually says,( that I signed). That mischievous boy, I will have to watch him closer......

Needing Mommy
I just got into the shower. Being a Sunday, I fed Matty and made sure he was all dressed for church and then got all cleaned up. John had gone ahead to church to take care of set up, and Drew was at a friend's for sleepover. When I got out, I could have sworn I heard distant weeping. Sad weeping. I yelled for Matty, and sure enough it was him. He came here and I asked him why was he crying so sadly, and he replied that his pants were shut and locked since he was wearing a belt and he had to use the toilet. Well, needless to say I took care of that. I thought he knew he could always come get me if he needed. I always make sure to let the kids know I am in the shower, so that if they need me, they know immediately where to find me. Guess some lessons just have to be learned the hard way.....but he did make it in time :-)

Generous 1:1
Matthew was going over his homework assignment last night, the first ever in school, now that he is in Pre-K, and it was to learn a bible verse for school, the very first verse of the Bible. He is amazing as Drew is at learning verses quickly, I learned. I asked him what it was, and soon he learned it. I love learning on the way to school and from school, it is time well spent. When asked what bible verse it is, he replied "Generous 1:1."
