not boring
I jstu overheard JOhn and Matty playing before he was put to bed. They were playing bionicles on the floor behind me when all of a sudden I heard ' Wow, this is boring. When I play by myself it's not boring'. John was cracking up into his hands........

good clean fun
John and I sent out the kids to school this morning with smiles on their faces. we were taking jabs at each other and pretending to be very mad and outraged and humiliated by each other. Wow, in these hard economic times, some cheap good clean fun is great!! John walked past me saying a brief 'good morning' to go outside in 30s degree weather this morn to visit with his esteemed rocks which he collected and is polishing week by week. I wrote some lines, for his punishment for passing me by so casually. the paper read 'I will not visit with my rocks before visiting with my beautiful wife' to be written 100 billion times. I let the kids see the punishment visiting their father when he came in. They loved it!! Oh, how they love seeing us pretend to be outraged at each other, all the humor involved......so when John came in and saw his punishment, he smiled and immediately got a pen and made adjustments to the paper. It now read when he placed it before me 'I will not visit with my beautiful rocks before visiting with my wife'. It ended up on the floor.
I will have to make an appt with a new family practice nurse practitioner, after having fired my rude rude doc. MY arthritis is flaring up terribly in the thumbs. ouch. ~mary

Rory in heaven
It has been long enough now that I can write about Rory being gone. It would be a gross oversight not to mention the end of his life. He was such an integral member of the family for 13 years and then some. We got Rory at 7 weeks from a Phoenix breeder and absolutely fell in love with him. If there ever was a perfect dog, Rory was definitely that. It has absolutely and completely broken our hearts to send him to heaven. It was a day we will not forget. But he brought us tons of joy, that is for sure. We, at least I, never expected to love a dog so deeply as we did Rory.
It was so great to get out of town soon after, to go to Jeanne's for spring break, 5 days later, fort he house has seemed much too lonely without him. How I pray we will see him in heaven someday. He was truly our best friend. how I pray he is running free and wild and playing with other doggie friends in heaven and other animal friends of all kinds. Wow, does he ever deserve that. he has shown us unconditional love from the first day he was ours, and once chased burglars out. He would have done anything for us. How fortunate we were to have him. To have had such a love in one's life is so precious, what a gift we were given.
I have never cried so hard as last week when we had to send him to heaven, for his poor arthritic body was in such pain. It was becoming painful just to see him struggling to stay standing and squatting to eliminate. In the end we did know the peace of knowing we were making the right decision for Rory. That doesn't mean the day was easy; it was undoubtedly the hardest day of my life. This part week has taught me that to know something in one's heart is so different from knowing it in your brain. We knew he had to go to heaven, the condition he was in, but we were never going to be ready to let him go. It made it easier to let him go knowing that his body was done. It brought us some measure of peace in and of itself knowing that his earthly body was done. Thank you, God for bringing Rory into our lives, we will never be the same for having loved him, and having been loved by him.
