I have come across yet anothe piece of paper from last month - a note to remember this tender moment to blog so it will not be lost forever. Drew experiences difficulty as so many seven year olds do, focussing on what needs to be done, without getting distracted by playing, especially when it is time to get some work done. I asked him one day to pray for help from God on focussing on what needs to be done. So when John went to tuck him in one eve, I reminded John to help prompt him to pray for this. When John came down, he said he did remind Drew that that would be a good thing to ask for God's help with. Drew replied "That is what Mommy wants me to pray for, not me." He is learning that prayers really do need to come from one's own heart...

I again see notes in front of me from years back from Drew's age 5-6, seeing as I also wrote a note in the middle of this sheet about when Bethany was coming to visit for the day then. Must have been a summer vacation day. Drew saw an infomercial on TV of the Edgemaster – some product for the price of, of course, $19.99. He exclaimed QUITE ENTHUSIASTICALLY, "Neat!! Just $19.99!! We have that amount of money. Let's get it!!"

A week later, "I want to know how smart my brain is," when he noticed the game Cranium in Zany Brainy sale brochure. He must have been age early fives since Zany Brainy closed when we were still very new in NH.

I remember cracking up when I heard both of these comments. How grat age five is! Love, Mary

We have had some really good memories of late seeing the children adapt really well most days to moving, and it has been very encouraging at times. I would have liked to remember those times here, but, unfortunately, did not write them down to be put here. Recently, something Drew said make me laugh right out loud! I think I was driving him to school, having realized that in all my distraction that I forgot to make him a lunch, when it was time to go wait for the bus. So here we were driving and he shouted out "FINALLY!!! Someone is voting for Bush!" Sure enough there was a sign supporting Pres. Bush for reelection, held just weeks after we got here.

I found slips of paper after the move last month, and they apparently are from several years back, some quotes from Drew that I felt too precious to slip away unnoticed. Here they are ~ age 3 probably: "Are you my best friend?" to Mary

I rested with him on his bed while he fell off to sleep. He ever so carefully laid his blanket, a small one, covering ME!

He once asked me,"Are you married?" Apparently he was just BEGINNING to learn about the concept of marriage.

age 3: "Mommy come back! (when I lfet the room to let him sleep at night) I got a blanket for you. You lay down with me?"

Age 3-4 (I only know this since these notes were all written on the same piece of paper) John fell asleep on the floor playing trains with Drew, "Daddy, wake up!"

I have also a piece of paper from September 7, '01, when he was four and a half, just four days before the infamous 9-11, which reads, "If you toast this, it's all mushy!" pointing to a stick of linguine).
