I came across this tiny piece of paper on my desk buried under papers, and it contains a quote from Drew last October 20th, one that I did not want to forget. So here goes. Someone asked him if he liked his teachers at Chapel School preschool, where he attended, and he responded affirmatively, 'Yeah, they are nice, in fact, they are triple nice.'
Another note to remember to journal, found deeply buried on my desk: (quoted from Drew) 'do dead people in the ground get coldin the winter?' If I recall, we had been talking about death and cemeteries a few times that week; and as we passed by them, they caught his attention. At one point, he pointed out a cemetery that we were passing and noted that 'a lot of people died there, Mommy (sounding sad)'.
We have a book in the series of Martha, the dog and one of the very funny parts of it centers around the Come-On-Inn. Drew heard John and me cracking up at the name and now he thinks it is as funny as all get out as well. He gets nearly hysterical with laughter when he hears the words Come On Inn, the name of the hotel in the book where the dog's family goes for the weekend.
I picked up Drew and his good pal, Bethany from school today, my first pick up as a carpooler. The line was very long, way down Birch Hill Drive, but it went pretty quickly. Drew had not dranken anything in hours,and was quite upset with extreme thirst when he jumped in the car. When I told him that no, we would not be going into school, but dropping off Bethany then going right home to get a drink, he was upset. I found out that not only was he upset that he was going to remian thirsty for a few more minutes, but he wanted to live with Bethany right away! (They have been talking about how they plan to get married someday for weeks.) It was comical how calmly she reminded him that they would have plenty of time to live together after they were married. She just seemed to have the wherewithall of a child much older than 5 at that very moment.
Moments later we found out that the very car in front of us, a brand new minivan, belonged to none other than Jenna and Melinda, friend of ours, and that they were ow ready to start carpooling with us, on account of now having plenty of room in the vehicle for children. So we will see what next week brings, starting our carpooling trio.
