We just got home from another exciting and delicious dinner at the Bilik home, out in Milford now. The Biliks are friends from our page Manor days at Wright patterson AFB in Dayton, OH in 90-92. We lived in the building next door to theirs, our building had five families in it, townhouse style, and theirs had 4 or 5. Those were the days before we even thought of having children, while the four of us were completing college degrees during those three years. Seems like a lifetime ago! Now the visits are filled with supervising our seven children, collectively, and trying to fit in a few words of conversation and catching up in between putting out fires with this child or the other. Fun evening! We sure look forward to having the Bilik girls over for a slumber party this summer when the kids are off from school and free as birds. Boy were those Page Manor days different - that is the name of the section of lower officer's quarters in which we lived, just about half a mile from where Scott and John worked at WRDC, Wright Research and Development Center. John could have walked to work almost. We dealt with one way shopping aisles at the commissary. We had a narrow strip of land we were responsible for mowing in front and back, but no utilities or water had to be paid out of pocket. Nice way to live for three years. I remember distinctly how the men there all seemed to let their wives drive the nicer family car while they all seemed to drive the beat up little sedan good only for getting from point A to B. John was the exception, he drove a nice little muscle car, a Nissan while I drove a nondescript generic Mercury hatchback. That was fine with me, just an interesting note on that society.
Drew came home from school last week and told us that Mrs. Roach told them that she is almost 100! He said that is true. In fact, he says he believes she is 'about 98' - that is his guess!
